More experimenting.

Posted by Mark Howson

I've been experimenting with dampened saturation... al la chuck close. I love the tones he gets in his pictures. This is one of his, one of my favorite portraits ever.

And, this is mine.

more self portraits

Posted by Mark Howson

Here's a photo I edited today... Its really different from most of the stuff I do, but I think I like it.

And here's more of a concept piece... totally not done, but i think its a decent idea.

Eugene Atget

Here's a self portrait that really inspired me-
It's by Eugene Atget, who does mostly portraits, but I could only find a couple self portraits. I love all the shadows and contrast.

Self Portraits

Posted by Mark Howson

So, here's my first blog for photo class this year. I decided for now to upload the self portraits I did a couple weeks back...

Self portraits are really important to me. I feel like they are special because a successful self portrait represents the photographer as the photographer sees him or herself. When I was shooting these, I had alot of things running through my head. College, friends, faith, relationships...

This one is one of my favorites from the shoot. At that time, I was feeling so empty with things just running through me, but not being able to hold anything. I feel like this picture is sucessful in capturing that.

This is one of my favorite pictures I've ever taken. It really describes what I find to be an everyday struggle. The lyrics are from this song by Manchester Orchestra.
